Important Changes in Card Processing Law

You may have heard in the news of the 2015 EU Payment Services Directive II due to come into effect in January 2018. This will have implications for your business if you currently pass on charges for customers paying by debit or credit cards. From next spring you will be forbidden from making such charges to your customers.

We suggest that you make early contact with your card merchant provider and discuss how you wish to proceed as the current expectation is for the vendor to bear the full cost. Please bear in mind that travel agents will also be forbidden from passing on card charges and ABTA is offering guidance to their members.

In the meantime, we will be pleased to explain how to change the card charges automatically applied within t28, t3 and WebRes. It is a simple process and we will be issuing a simple guide showing you how to do this a little nearer the time.
